Hey Parents,
Need a Vaughan Buddy?
Wanna BE a Vaughan Buddy?

We have a program for next year to help parents who are new to Vaughan get their questions answered and get connected.  This is an easy and fun way for 'veteran' parents to contribute to our Vaughan community!  Making a simple phone call to welcome a new family and being friendly and available for questions takes little effort, but goes a long way.  Please contact Lisa Rainey, LRainey04@yahoo.com, to sign up and get more information on how to be a Vaughan Buddy and help new family ease into Vaughan Elementary School!

Family Day is a national movement to remind parents that what their kids really want at the dinner table is YOU!!!!!  This day encourages parents to frequently eat dinner with their kids and be involved in their children's lives.

Children who eat five or more meals with their family:

  • Are at half the risk for substance abuse compared to children who eat three or fewer meals with their family
  • Are less likely to have friends or classmates who use illicit drugs or abuse prescription drugs
  • Have lower levels of tension and stress at home
  • Are more likely to say that their parents are proud of them
  • Are likelier to get better grades in school
  • Are more likely to be emotionally content and have positive peer relationships
  • Have healthier eating habits
  • Are at lower risk for thoughts of suicide

It is never to late to start the family dinner tradition.  Begin making family dinners a regular feature of your daily routine today!!!
