Room Parents
Room Parent Information | Thank you for doing a great job for our teachers and students! | Thank you for volunteering your time and efforts to be a Room Parent. Your job description includes coordinating many functions throughout the school year, delegating responsibilities to other parents, creating the classroom roster, and creating and following a budget for events and class gifts during the school year. Most of the information you will need will be posted here this year. Please check back frequently for updates. The contents of this page include: Room Parent Budget There will be many things that you will need money for as the year progresses. It is recommended that you draw up a budget and collect money from parents at the beginning of the year. The following is a sample to give you an idea of what you will be needing: Sample Budget | Auction Basket | $50 | | Teacher's Birthday Gift from the Class | $100 | | Oct. Drug Awareness Week | $20 | | Holiday Celebration | $50 | | Holiday Gift for the teacher | $100 | | Teacher Appreciation Week | $50 | | End of the Year Celebration | $50 | | End of the Year Gift | $100 | Discuss activities that your teacher would like to plan this year and plan your budget accordingly. Party Guidelines -
Please utilize all parents that have volunteered to help -
Treats and goody bags may only be given out at the winter holiday party. An edible treat is not considered a goody bag. Please do not send in hard candy. -
No ice may be used from the cafeteria. You may ask the cafeteria staff to store a bag of ice in the freezer that you have brought in for a party. -
Religious themes are to be avoided. -
Request volunteers by sending out flyers or putting requests in teachers newsletters. -
Use clear drinks whenever possible. Do not bring in fruit punch, it is too hard for the custodians to clean up. -
If you need a lot of supplies for a craft or celebration, request that each child bring in something by a deadline (a couple of days before needed). -
Technically, parties are not allowed to be held for the smaller holidays during the school year (e.g. Halloween, Thanksgiving, Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Easter, etc..). Teachers will sometimes plan curriculum oriented centers during some of these holidays. An example might be learning the food pyramid during Thanksgiving. See PTSA Calendar for all events
